Hi there! I’m Cait.

My pronouns are she/her/hers.

Care work has been at the center of my life from the start. I was the oldest daughter of five, lovingly tending to younger children in our house and my neighborhood. As an adult, organizing for universal healthcare & abortion rights became another way of putting care into action. Ultimately, I was called to birthwork, with hopes that I could prevent and interrupt harm as people labor and parent, while helping to foster a sense of trust in their own intuition, abilities & strengths. I know the transformational power of deep compassion & witnessing. Birthwork applies the innate knowing that the well-being of parents and young children is inextricably tied to our communities’ collective health & happiness.

I live on unceded, occupied land of the Abenaki people in the coastal city commonly known as Portland, Maine. I serve families seeking birth and postpartum care within a 2.5 hour radius of Portland. I am able to provide remote, tailored childbirth education & abortion doula support to anyone within the United States.

Kind Words from Liz

“I cannot recommend Cait’s services as a doula highly enough. She was an indispensable member of our birth team and continues to offer support postpartum. Cait provided evidence-based and nonjudgemental guidance to help me and my husband navigate the pregnancy and birthing experience. Her knowledge and experience is evident in her calm-but-enthusiastic approach to birth work. Having Cait in our corner as an advocate was a total game-changer and made both of us feel so supported and excited as we approached the end of pregnancy; we were so comfortable heading into the hospital knowing that we had several birth plans in place, and that she was there to help us handle anything that came up. Cait is our doula for life — we hope to use her services again for any future births.”

Nothing in birth is bigger than you—it is you.

I believe we need each other, and our interdependency is a sacred gift.

I believe in the power of radical community care and peer support.

My beliefs and practices for birthwork are grounded in an embrace of the radical framework and generous teachings from leaders of the Reproductive Justice movement— founded by Black American women activists in the 1990s—the Harm Reduction movement—founded by drug users seeking dignity & safety in community—and a lifelong commitment to daily anti-oppressive practice.

All individuals and families are welcomed at Birthing Solidarity.
